Who we are

This privacy policy explains how Markstone Masonry & Conservation Ltd (“Markstone”, “we”, “us”) collects and uses your personal information when you use this website or contact us about our services.

We are the data controller for the personal information described here. We are registered in England and Wales (company number 16088443), registered office Primrose Cottage, Bay Road, Gillingham, Dorset SP8 4EW. For any privacy question, contact mark@markstonemasonry.co.uk.

The information we collect

We collect information you give us directly when you make an enquiry — typically your name, email address, phone number, the location or details of the property, and anything you tell us about the work you need. If we go on to quote for or carry out work, we will hold the records needed to do that and to keep proper business and tax records.

When you visit the site, our website host and analytics may collect limited technical information automatically, such as your approximate location, device and browser type, and the pages you view. This helps us keep the site secure and understand how it is used.

How we use your information, and our lawful basis

We use your information to:

  • Respond to your enquiry, arrange site visits, and provide quotations — on the basis of taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries.
  • Carry out and administer agreed works — to perform our contract with you.
  • Keep business, accounting, and tax records — to comply with our legal obligations.
  • Maintain and improve the website — on the basis of our legitimate interest in a secure, useful site, and your consent where required for non-essential analytics.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run our business — for example email, website hosting, and website analytics. They process your information only on our instructions. We may also share information where we are required to by law, or with professional advisers and insurers where necessary. We do not share your information with anyone else.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry information only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any resulting work, and we keep records of completed work and accounts for as long as the law requires (for tax purposes, this is generally several years). After that, we securely delete or anonymise it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, and, where applicable, port it to another provider. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email mark@markstonemasonry.co.uk.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, although we would ask that you contact us first so we can try to put things right.

Cookies

This website uses cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for it to work and, where you allow it, to measure how the site is used. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings; blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.

Children’s privacy

This website and our services are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information about children.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
