Orangery Stone Floor
A new stone floor laid throughout an orangery — flags set out to the room, on a build-up that lets the floor move without cracking.
The brief
A new orangery needed a stone floor that would suit the building and sit right under a lot of glass, where light shows up every joint and every variation in the stone.
What we did
- Set out the floor to the room so the cuts fall where they should
- Laid the flags on an uncoupling build-up to allow for movement
- Kept joints tight and consistent across the span
- Finished so the stone, not the jointing, is what you notice
The result
A stone floor that looks like it has always been there — flat, consistent, and quietly doing its job under the glass.
